Apple released their iPhone 17 line at its “Awe-dropping” product parade and with it came many new features. With a new model, never-seen-before colors, and new camera designs, Apple is packing a punch this season with its upgrades. Let’s go over them together to see if the upgrade is worth it for you!
The iPhone Air
This year, Apple makes a huge change to their lineup as they’re releasing an iPhone 17 Air and doing away with the iPhone 17 Plus. The new design is at just 5.6mm and 165 grams, with the display being 6.5 inches. It’ll sport the A19 Pro chip, the same chip that is in the Pro models (with the exception of 5-core GPU instead of 6-core). However, the caveat is that there is only one camera, which some may find to be a dealbreaker.
The iPhone 17 Air will come in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue.
iPhone 17
All models are getting ProMotion display technology with a 120Hz refresh rate that was previously limited to the Pro models. Always-on display is becoming available to all models. Main cameras for all models will be 48MP, with dual-camera front and back video.
The iPhone 17 models will be adding a 18MP front camera with a new square sensor that allows for the best group photos. It’ll be the only model with the regular A19 chip and will come in Black, White, Lavender, Sage, and Mist Blue.
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max
While the iPhone 17 model remains relatively the same, this cannot be said for the Pro models. iPhone 17 Pro models have a redesigned camera with a larger horizontal, rectangular bump crafted from aluminum instead of glass. This is the one of the biggest design changes in iPhone products in the last five years! The new camera features 8× optical zoom, 8K video recording, and a variable aperture.
Let’s talk about the inside. Pro models feature the next-gen A19 Pro chip built on an advanced 3-nm process, paired with 12 GB of RAM. Thermal improvements include a vapor-chamber cooling system, helping maintain performance during intense tasks or gaming.
The Pro models will come in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, and Silver.
Battery
All new models are upgraded from the previous 15W limit, with ALL models supporting Qi2.2 25W charging! Phones are moving onto a new era of wireless charging, away from tangled wires and broken cables.

Pricing
This is what we have all been waiting for! With tariffs coming into play for this model, rumors about pricing have been at an all time high. Pricing has increased to the prices below:
The standard iPhone 17 starts at $799.
The iPhone 17 Air starts at $999.
The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1099.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1199.
Verdict
The iPhone 17 series brings many welcomed changes. If you want to sport the new look, I would say go for the upgrade! In a similar fashion, if you’ve been looking for a thinner, lighter phone and don’t mind the single camera, you could definitely check out the new iPhone Air. However, if you already have a iPhone 16 and are thinking of the 17, I would say to wait until next year.
